The Packers have finally awaken to have found free agency has started. From their slumber they wasted little time in signing former Steelers safety Anthony Smith. He comes with an understanding of the 3-4 defense the Packers will use and was an up and coming player before disappearing this year. The Steelers didn't even tender him as a restricted free agent. Not a good sign, but maybe the change of scenery will help. He will get a chance to compete with Arari Bigby for a starting spot and help improve the depth that exposed the Packers secondary last year...
The Titans have signed a pair of free agents... former Steelers WR Nate Washington to a 6 year $27 million deal with $9 million guaranteed. He will replace Brandon Jones who signed with the 49ers. They also signed former Bucs DT Jovan Haye to a 4 year $16 million to improve the defensive line that had a gaping hole. Haye is a solid player the man he takes over for won't be easy to replace...
The Lions have been targeting receivers in free agency, much focus has been on Steelers WR Nate Washington, but the team has signed former Cardinals and 49ers receiver Bryant Johnson to a 3 year $9 million deal. So they turn their attention to other positions receivers Nate Washington and Michael Clayton will visit as will guard Derrick Dockery...
The Steelers aer working to solidify their offensive line, have resigned guard Chris Kemoeatu...
So the Steelers placed the franchise tag on tackle Max Starks and he quickly signed the one year deal worth nearly $8.5 million. Not bad for a guy who was the transition player last year but couldn't even win a starting job in camp. Injuries got him on the field and all the free agents on the line the Steelers picked here to stop the potential losses...
