<title>Titans select Chris Johnson</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Holy crap... the Titans have trumped the Falcons and by a long shot.... they have taken RB Chris Johnson at #24 in round one. He is so fast he looks like lightning but way way to high here! Horrible but another team looking to create running back duo's and it is a speed playmaker for Vince, but if they can't throw the ball defenses will put 8-9 men in the box and the speed won't help when he is getting hit in the backfield </articlebody>

<title>Michael Roos gets paid</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Titans are not only focused on the draft, today they signed left tackle Michael Roos to a 6 year $43 million extension according to ESPN. It includes $15 million guaranteed and $25 million in the first 3 years, not bad for a 3 year player taken in the second round </articlebody>

<title>Cowboys trade not done but another is</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cowboys trade for Pacman Jones isn't complete yet, but they have completed a different one. They have sent ILB Akin Ayodele and TE Anthony Fasano to the Miami Dolphins and Bill Parcells for a 4th round pick. Ayodele was going to lose his starting job to Zach Thomas and Fasano is playing behind Jason Witten, but was a 2nd round pick just two years ago. Seems like a lot to send for a 4th round pick even if it's the first pick in the round. The Dolphins get a good backup at tight end and a linebacker who can step in and start... certainly more than they could have gotten with the 4th round pick so for now they appear to be the winners </articlebody>

<title>Pacman finally heads to Big D</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>So Adam "Pacman" Jones is finally heading to the Cowboys. Dallas and the Tennessee Titans have reached an agreement according to ESPN... the Cowboys will send their 4th round pick, #126 overall, to the Titans. For protection the Cowboys added a clause that they get the Titans 4th round pick next year if Jones isn't reinstated by the league. It works out well for the Titans just to get something and get rid of Pacman. The Cowboys take a huge character chance, but what's new. If reinstated and he can quickly get back to form he would be a steal for a 4th round pick. A good corner and great return man he could add some electricity to the Cowboys. Of course he could certainly add some negative electricity as well and of course controversies as if they needed more. As for now it's a push and we'll have to wait and see what happens. A big question is how far if any this pushes down a corner on the Cowboys draft board </articlebody>

<title>Drafting wide receivers</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The NFL draft is a crapshoot and the 2008 version appears to be a little more than usual. No true #1 pick, some safer picks, some with more upside.... then there is the one constant, the danger of drafting a wide receiver in round one. Rookie receivers usually do not make a big impact, junior wide receivers may be flashy choices but are even more dangerous. This year the name moving up the charts is Devin Thomas... who? He is from Michigan State and a one year wonder. Let's see a junior with only one year of production, runs fast and has good size.. shoot him up the board.... danger!

What about a couple receivers who were consider near the top - Mario Manningham and Malcolm Kelly - both juniors and both falling down the boards. Neither ran a quality 40 time, but they have excuses. Those are part of the problem. Manningham lied about failing drug tests in college, then admitted to it and then sounded like an idiot on a national radio show. He clearly doesn't get it, but it appears NFL GM's do and there is little chance he goes in round one now. Kelly didn't run well and blamed his school for changing the surface he was to run on.... you see he had special shoes and everything. Ok this shoe thing is true of everyone now a days (ugh) but to come out and bash the school was an immature and dumb move on his part.

Why do people get so caught up on a 40 time of someone on a track with special shoes when they have been preparing to run this drill for months. Are they ever asked to run the 40 without pads and in tracks shoes during a game? Jerry Rice ran a 4.55 40 coming out of college but didn't look that slow when the speedy Redskins corner Darrell Green was chasing him... who really cares. I understand it has some value but it is far too overrated. How many times do receivers run in the 4.3s and then you hear people say that team needs receivers you can stretch the field and their current group isn't getting it done. The 40 speed doesn't make them a deep threat. Even better there have been top track guys playing receiver in the NFL and referred to as more of a possession guy... not saying the assessment was wrong but pointing out they were track stars just a couple years ago... NFL speed is different than track speed. Being fast at one doesn't make you fast at the other, get it? There are plenty of teams needing a receiver and some will reach for one, more will regret than will rejoice and fans will be excited in April and forget their names in October... such is life in the NFL in April </articlebody>

<title>Pacman may not be going to Dallas yet</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cowboys want to play pacman... but it will have to wait. The discuss trade is on the shelf for a bit. It makes sense for the Cowboys if they can get him very cheap, anything more than a late round pick is far too much. Look for it to wait until summer and then be a conditional 2009 pick depending on how Jones does both on and off field </articlebody>

<title>Philly shopping for receiver</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The rumors of star receivers coming to Philadelphia haven't come true and likely won't, but they may have just found a target for free. Darrell Jackson who was released by the 49ers would do well to get back into a West Coast offense and while not a #1 anymore, he has experience and may do better than the Eagles other options. Not to say he would succeed as the Seahawks let him go rather cheaply and to a division rival last year... seems they were right about him, but a change of scenery and return to an offense that suits him may help. Though if he drops balls again like last year (and more than a few in Seattle over the years) the Philly fans will turn quickly on him, it could be a low risk trial as he should be had rather inexpensively at least on a one year deal. The Titans may not be a natural fit but will likely be looking as well </articlebody>

<title>Titans shopping on offense</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Titans should be rather active in free agency, first trying to keep their defenders and adding play makers on offense. Donte' Stallworth and Michael Turner were discussed last year and could be targeted. Two lesser names to watch though are Cardinals WR Bryant Johnson and 49ers RB Maurice Hicks </articlebody>

<title>Getting ready to cash in</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The 49ers have a difficult decision facing them with Isaac Sopoaga who will be a free agent in a couple of weeks. He could be the best available defensive tackle when free agency starts. The Titans will franchise Albert Haynesworth and the Packers may do the same with Corey WIlliams if they don't work out a deal soon. That would leave Sopoaga near the top of the list. BUT he wasn't even a starter last year or any year. He is an immense talent and started to show what he could do last year, but that doesn't really show on the stat sheet. Still it wouldn't surprise us to see him get $5+ million from another team. He is valuable to the 49ers as he can play end or nose in their 3-4, but do they want to put that much money into him. They won't find any other free agents much cheaper and with Bryant Young retiring and their other starting end a free agent as well, how much youth do they want? Would a 5 year $23 million deal get it done? Would the 49ers pay that? Can they afford not to? Oh how they wish they had the foresight last summer to lock him up for maybe $2.5 million per, then again he hadn't shown he was worth even that then </articlebody>

<title>Wasting tax payers dollars</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Ah yes tax time is near and the pain of seeing how much money we fork over to cause deep pain in our stomachs. Then of course there is all the good that comes from it, such as members of congress spending the day listening to the he said she said of Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee (don't forget Andy Pettitte too) and now a new wonderful word "Nannygate", ugh what has this world come to? Add to that Arlen Specter grilling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over the spygate issue, threatening congressional hearings and the league's antitrust exemption. Do these blowhard's not have anything better to do with their days??? Do we not have any serious issues to be tackled in this great country that we have time to bicker and seek headlines with this crap? Hey guys call me when you fix the economy, health care, homelessness in this rich country and a list longer than.... then we can get around to which retired baseball players did what. Other than Barry Bonds the rest of this is ridiculous and makes me not want to pay attention to the sports we all love so much. This country has become addicted to soap opera's and reality crap where everyone wants their 15 minutes. It's not like this is all brand new, the Steelers of the 70s admittedly used steroids and they certainly were not alone but no one is calling to take back their Super Bowl wins. Lester Hayes is probably my favorite corner of all time, but he reported used something to help him get a better grip. Can we all just move on and focus on trying to fix things rather than going over the top about the past. Either way Roger was dominant, the Patriots were superior and as much as it pains us Bonds was a Hall of Famer before they all crossed the line </articlebody>

<title>Mike Heimerdinger may be back with Titans</title>

<title>Pacman at it again</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Pacman Jones may be done in the NFL if the reports of him hitting a woman in a strip club are true... what was he doing there anyway? Didn't he learn from his night out in Vegas? He needs to change the lifestyle a bit. The reports sounds a little odd and there is some difference depending who is speaking as to what is going on but either way it's not good for Pacman </articlebody>

<title>Caldwell a popular man</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Colts assistant head coach and QB coach Jim Caldwell is a popular man right now. He has been a target of all the head coach openings with the exception of Miami. However his most likely chance at a head coaching gig is in Indy. Either after this year or next Tony Dungy is likely to retire and Cadwell would be the most likely replacement. The Rooney rule requires teams to interview at least one minority coach before hiring, has done a lot of good to be sure. It is certainly getting Caldwell's name out there, but it won't likely land him a job. Last year 49ers assistant head coach Mike Singletary was a hot candidate and was at that time said to be very impressive, but he hasn't gotten so much as a nibble this year. Continuing the interesting way "hot" candidates come and go look at Jim Schwartz, who nearly landed the job with the 49ers that went to Mike Nolan and then was untouched for two years and now is hot again. The same thing happened to current Packers head man Mike McCarrthy, who while the Saints offensive coordinator was a hot name only to disappear for a few years and then surprisingly landed the Packers job and look what he has done there. It is interesting how this all works, not necessarily smart but interesting </articlebody>

<title>Titans dump the Saints</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The old times are back for the Saints and we are not talking about the good ole days, but cover your head (and vomit if you must). After a magical year they were the trendy pick and have responded with an 0-3 and look to have the makings to get much worse. Drew Brees threw 4 INTs and lost a fumble in a 31-14 loss to the Titans Monday night. Reggie Bush gained only 15 yards rushing but did score 2 TDs and Deuce McAllister injured his knee. The receivers were dynamic last year, now strike no fear in anyone. The entire team just seems to be lacking the desire and fire they had last year when they were playing for a cause. The Titans looked solid in all areas </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>

The Titans have reward him with a 3 year contract worth almost $5 million and with incentives it cold cross that mark according to the Nashville Tennessean. <title>Rivalry is back</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Colts and Titans rivalry is back. Vince Young has helped bring the Titans back and Peyton probably isn't too happy about that. The Titans used to be a tough game, but that changed as their fortunes did, now Peyton knows regardless of other circumstances it will be tough. The Titans almost pulled out a win Sunday. The Colts were up by 10 at the half but as they learned last year, it's not enough. "It doesn't make sense that LaRon Landry is the highest paid safety in the game," Cowboys executive Stephen Jones told me. "And that Joe Thomas (Cleveland's top pick) has a better deal than Tom Brady. For example, Chiefs running back Larry Johnson signed yesterday for less guaranteed money than what Johnson and Thomas collected, and only a moron would say those rookies deserve more than one of the NFL's best running backs... we're right there with you John, good work</A> </articlebody>

The Titans had sniffed around earlier in the off season and didn't bite, but now on the eve of camp decided they needed a veteran presence. <title>Titans find a running back</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Titans needed a running back and with nothing happening with the Chargers and Michael Turner they changed directions and took Chris Henry in round two, a fast back from Arizona. He is a big and fast back but wouldn't have been a starter for sure if he returned for his senior year. That is a scary thought but he has the potential, he just needs to play hard and focus </articlebody>

<title>Titans surprise with Michael Griffin</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Most people had the Titans taking a receiver or end here, or possibly swapping with the Chargers for Michael Turner. Instead they surprised with a big hitter at safety in Michael Griffin at #19 in the first round. The Chargers were looking at him interestly enough as well... He will add a physical presence to their defense and while receiver is a deep spot in the draft and they can get quality in round two, but Vince Young needs some help and a running back is still badly needed. A good value but the Titans had bigger needs </articlebody>

<title>Is Michael Turner going</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Chargers are still listening to offers for RB Michael Turner and now according to the San Diego Union Tribune a mystery team has offered a first round pick in 2008 for Turner. The team isn't the Titans, Bills or Cowboys who were all interested. The Packers though always mentioned have shown no real visible interest, despite the obvious need. The report states this team would take him have him play this year for the $2.35 million tender he signed and franchise him next year if they haven't worked out a long term deal. His agent is asking for $17 million guaranteed in a 5 year deal. Oh his agent's name you ask? Bus Cook, yes the same agent for Brett Favre. Question What if the Packers got Turner for a first round pick next year, got Randy Moss for a 4th rounder this year or even a 3rd, still had their first and second round picks this year? Wow would a quiet off season take a major step forward </articlebody>

<title>Sorry to Titans fans</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Sorry all you Tennessee Titans fans, Vince Young had a good rookie year, but appears it was too good. Young has been chosen to be the cover boy for the new Madden game... and the dreaded curse that hangs over that honor. The last two years it has claimed Donovan McNabb and Shaun Alexander, injuries cut their seasons short. McNabb played in just nine games and Alexander played in 10 and had 896 yards, almost 1,000 short of the previous year. So the questions is can Vince tackle Madden </articlebody>

Turner is near a lock to be traded sometime between now and in the first round of the draft on April 28th. <title>Browns sign a pair of lineman</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cleveland Browns addressed both sides of the line with signings. On defense they added DT Robaire Smith to a 4 year $12 million deal with a $4 million signing bonus according to ESPN, and on offense they signed Seth McKinney to a one year deal. They also terminated the contract of FB Terrelle Smith. Robaire Smith's signing is an interesting one in that he was a good player for the Titans to begin his career, signed with the Texans for big money but found he didn't fit in their 3-4 defense. Last season he returned to Tennessee and played well and now he leaves for the money and another 3-4 team. If he just wants the money then fine, but sometimes players need to find where they fit best too. Smith will be moved to end in the 3-4 but is a more natural fit at tackle in a 4-3. McKinney will help provide depth on a line that sorely lacked it last year </articlebody>

The man was arrested and has a history or arrests including stalking. So this time he was just an innocent guy trying to bowl with some friends, but trouble follows trouble and more people will be looking to take advantage of him and his reputation and the potential civil suits that can follow. <articlebody>The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Titans WR Bobby Wade to a 5 year $15 million contract according to the NFL Network. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports he will step into the starting lineup though Vikings fans had better hope he is the #3 receiver and not a starter. He had 33 catches last year and his best was 42 in 2004, not what you want from a starter. He is a good return man and best used out of the slot. His 5'10 186 pound frame also doesn't fit the prototype for a starter in the West Coast offense. Then again with only Billy McMullen and Troy Williamson under contract at receiver he would look like a starter currently... keep shopping Vikings </articlebody>

<title>Pacman Jones watches his money get gobbled up</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Titans (for the time being) CB Adam Pacman Jones is clearly not learning his lesson. As more news develops on his latest legal issues in Las Vegas... it doesn't always stay in Las Vegas. Jones was at a strip club when a fight broke out that ended in a shooting over the weekend. Jones is not a suspect but was a key person involved in what happened. According to an AP report he was showering some of the dancers on stage with $81,000 which they pick up and their manager left with the money. Shortly after a fight broke out and three people were shot. Jones doesn't think this will violate a judges order that he stays out of trouble until July 5 to have his record cleared for public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges. The Titans got themselves in world of trouble with this young man. Jones obviously doesn't understand how to stay out of trouble and pick the right people to be around him. The Titans have a very talented player who has more than a few issues to work out. The commissioner gets another legal issue he didn't want. Guess they will have plenty of new items to discuss at the rookie symposium this year </articlebody>
