<title>Panthers price</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Eagles will get the Panthers 2nd and 4th round pick this year AND their first rounder next year. The Panthers paid way too big a price to get him. The Eagles were questioned a minute ago but now we like this trade </articlebody>

<title>Panthers move way up</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Panthers have moved up into the first round again... trading with the Eagles to select tackle Jeff Otah. Well another pick we call at the right spot, had him in the mock draft here to the Eagles which made a lot of sense, but the Panthers moved up here to get him. The Eagles are not out of the first round and could have used Otah with the age they have at tackle, not sure I understand this. What did the Panthers have to give up? It will be expensive. The Panthers come out with a new back and someone to block for him </articlebody>

<title>Jonathan Stewart goes to Carolina</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Panthers wanted a big running back and got one in Jonathan Stewart. Derrick Harvey was a hope but he went earlier. Not a pick we like so much here </articlebody>

<title>Panthers add Terrence Holt</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Panthers have signed former Cardinals safety Terrence Holt. He was a big addition for the Cardinals last year but was released after one season and will have a chance to compete for a starting spot, if not he will be a top backup in nickel and dime situations </articlebody>

<title>Hackett heads to Carolina</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The one receiver left in free agency from the start finally found a home, surprised it took so long. Former Seahawks WR D.J. Hackett landed in Carolina with a 2 year $3.5 million deal to help Steve Smith. It is a great move by the Panthers and quite cheap. The receiver he replaces, Keary Colbert, got a 3 year $7.2 million deal in Denver and Hackett is a big improvement over him! Oh pity Denver </articlebody>

<title>Giants buy broken down Carr</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Giants fixed a nearly broken season last year to end up Super Bowl champs and now it seems they think they can fix a broken Carr too. They have agreed to a one year $1 million deal with former Panthers failure David Carr to backup Eli Manning (better hope he doesn't get hurt). QB coach Chris Palmer knows him from their time in Houston together, but that didn't end too well either. In the end it isn't a very expensive risk considering they didn't have a great backup anyway and Carr isn't guaranteed to make the roster </articlebody>

<title>Saints sign Dan Morgan</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Saints have signed former Panthers LB Dan Morgan, who if he is and stays healthy would be an improvement to their linebacking corp, but that isn't likely likely. Injuries have derailed his career. Last year it was his Achilles' tendon that limited him to 3 games and he has had problems with concussions as well... not good for a linebacker </articlebody>

<title>Kris Jenkins trade now official</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Panthers have completed the trade of NT Kris Jenkins to the Jets for a 3rd and 5th round pick. Jenkins certainly has the size for the nose and could be dominant in that role if he wants. The Panthers continue the remake after a horrible year. In the deal Jenkins also got a new contract with the Jets for 5 years and $7 million per, with $20 million guaranteed </articlebody>

<title>From Atlanta to Carolina</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The NFC South may keep former Falcons DT Rod Coleman who is visiting with the Panthers today. The Bucs were also interested and visited with him earlier. He would make sense in both places, the Panthers needing to replace Kris Jenkins could move quick </articlebody>

<title>Jets find a nose</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Jets may have found the nose tackle to run their 3-4 defense. They are close to trading for the Panthers Kris Jenkins, who is a serious space eater and dominant player when he wants to be and is healthy. The Panthers tried to trade him last year and this year the price came down and the interest went up as they are busy remaking their roster </articlebody>

Former Panthers RB DeShaun Foster was a done deal a couple of days ago get a 2 year deal to back up Frank Gore. Quick negotiating also landed them QB J.T. O'Sullivan who is familiar with Mike Martz offense and Vikings linebacker Dontarrious Thomas, a quick and agile player to pair with Patrick WIllis inside in their 3-4 </articlebody>

<title>DeShaun Foster cut by Panthers</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>

<title>Wasting tax payers dollars</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Ah yes tax time is near and the pain of seeing how much money we fork over to cause deep pain in our stomachs. Then of course there is all the good that comes from it, such as members of congress spending the day listening to the he said she said of Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee (don't forget Andy Pettitte too) and now a new wonderful word "Nannygate", ugh what has this world come to? Add to that Arlen Specter grilling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over the spygate issue, threatening congressional hearings and the league's antitrust exemption. Do these blowhard's not have anything better to do with their days??? Do we not have any serious issues to be tackled in this great country that we have time to bicker and seek headlines with this crap? Hey guys call me when you fix the economy, health care, homelessness in this rich country and a list longer than.... then we can get around to which retired baseball players did what. Other than Barry Bonds the rest of this is ridiculous and makes me not want to pay attention to the sports we all love so much. This country has become addicted to soap opera's and reality crap where everyone wants their 15 minutes. It's not like this is all brand new, the Steelers of the 70s admittedly used steroids and they certainly were not alone but no one is calling to take back their Super Bowl wins. Lester Hayes is probably my favorite corner of all time, but he reported used something to help him get a better grip. Can we all just move on and focus on trying to fix things rather than going over the top about the past. Either way Roger was dominant, the Patriots were superior and as much as it pains us Bonds was a Hall of Famer before they all crossed the line </articlebody>

<title>Forever Young</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>In the new reality series, Grandpa's challenge... Brett Favre out did Vinny Testaverde Sunday. Thankfully due to their ages it was a one day series. The Panthers looked good early but just could not hold. Everything just seems to be working in Green Bay, but the next week and a half is huge. Travelling to Detroit for Thanksgiving won't be easy and the Lions are smarting after their loss at home to the Giants. They had plans of winning both and getting in the fight for the division. The following week the Packers travel to Dallas for a Thursday night game against the Cowboys. The schedule gets a bit better after that, but home field advantage is likely going to be decided right here </articlebody>

<title>Emotional in Atlanta</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Falcons CB DeAngelo Hall is top corner in the league and is an emotional guy. That bit the team Sunday as Hall gave the Panther 67 yards on 3 penalties in a key drive that was the difference in the game. Hall admitted he was beat on the first flag and took down Steve Smith to save a TD, the next call didn't help but the third saved the drive after a sack on third down. With the drive kept alive it ended in a TD. Things are ugly in Atlanta but could get much worse before it gets any better. New head coach Bobby Petrino has to keep control of the team in what is certainly not what he expected when he took the job </articlebody>

<title>Falcons lose again</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>It wasn't all Joey's fault this time but the Falcons lost anyway 27-20 to the Panthers. Harrington had 361 yards passing and 2 TDs. The Falcons used to be a great running team but were out done by The Panthers 175 to 91 so they don't have the balance when a QB finally shows up. Panthers QB Jake Delhomme left the game with an elbow injury that has the team worried, good thing they signed David Carr as the backup </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Houston Texans are off to a 2-0 start after a 34-21 win over the Panthers... on the road. Matt Schaub was a good choice for the team, he threw for 227 yards on 20 of 28 passing and had 2 TDs. In the battle of two of the top receivers in the game Texans WR Andre Johnson had 7 catches for 120 yards and 2 TDs, but Panthers WR Steve Smith had 8 catches for 153 and 3 TDs </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Panthers WR Steve Smith looks ready for the season with an excellent opener catching 7 balls for 118 yards and a great 68 yard catch for a TD against Tye Hill who "tried" to follow him all over the field. The defense had a good showing as well holding Steven Jackson to 58 yards and forcing 2 fumbles </articlebody>

<title>Great article</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Here is a great article by Fox Sports' <A href="http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7146400?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=5" target="_blank"> John Czarnecki</A> about how the NFL rookie are being paid way too much. "It doesn't make sense that LaRon Landry is the highest paid safety in the game," Cowboys executive Stephen Jones told me. "And that Joe Thomas (Cleveland's top pick) has a better deal than Tom Brady. For example, Chiefs running back Larry Johnson signed yesterday for less guaranteed money than what Johnson and Thomas collected, and only a moron would say those rookies deserve more than one of the NFL's best running backs... we're right there with you John, good work</A> </articlebody>

<title>Mike Minter retires</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Carolina Panther safety Mike Minter has announced his retirement. Minter had planned to make this his last year but his knees had other plans. Now the Panthers are looking for another plan. The Panthers traded for Chris Harris of the Bears last week so the loss isn't as severe as it could have been, but they would have been much happier with Minter and Harris together than Harris basically replacing Minter </articlebody>

<title>Jon Beason signed in Carolina</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Panthers and first round pick LB Jon Beason finally ended their dance and agreed to a 5 year deal with no second year option bonus. The youngster got rich and the agent got something he thinks won't hurt him in the recruiting wars next year. Sometimes you have to wonder if these guys are really acting in the best interest of their client. That is what they are suppose to do right? Just seems they are watching out for themselves too much at times </articlebody>

<articlebody>The Jets traded up with the Carolina Panthers to stop the cornerback drought in round one and selected Darrell Revis out of Pitt #14 overall. They wanted a corner and couldn't pass up the opportunity to come up and get one. Revis has good size and great speed. Coming out after his junior year he still needs to develop but he has the tools. It was a toss up with him and Leon Hall, Revis is a solid choice. They gave up their second round and fifth round pick and got the Panthers sixth round pick as well </articlebody>

<title>A new Carr in the driveway</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>There's a new Carr in the driveway in Carolina, not a shiny new one as this one has some dents and dings but it's not too old and could be a keeper. David Carr has chosen the Panthers as his new team agreeing to a two year deal according to the Charlotte Observer. Panther's head coach John Fox maintains that Jake Delhomme is the starter, but the addition of Carr will put some pressure on him and if he struggles again this year there may be a short leash. Carr never really got going in Houston, battered in his first year and protection was an issue every year. That leads some to wonder if he can regain his form... from college. It would do him well to sit the bench a bit and regroup, if he is mentally strong enough he could re-emerge and make a new name for himself </articlebody>

<articlebody>The Carolina Panthers have released QB Chris Weinke, who may have gotten a bad ride in the NFL. Drafted at age 28 because he played minor league baseball he was thrown in to start 15 games as a rookie who was picked in the 4th round. To be nice his numbers were awful but he was a rookie who wasn't expected to start. The next year he was benched and he has wandered from #2 to #3 QB ever since, being a great team player. He played in 3 games this last year without great results. He did throw for 423 yards in his first start but threw only 1 TD to 3 interceptions in a loss to the Giants </articlebody>

<title>Mike Rucker will stay a Panther</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Carolina Panthers told the Charlotte Observer that they will keep DE Mike Rucker for the 2007 season despite speculation he would be released due to cap reasons. It is a bit of a surprise, but if healthy they hop he can help the line return to their expected form. We'll wait on this a bit and watch through training camp as well, but it seems he is safe for now </articlebody>

<title>Carolina Panthers release Al Wallace</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Panthers got started on trimming their salary cap excesses by releasing veteran DE Al Wallace saving $1 million in cap space for 2007. He is 33 years old and that likely helped make the decision to let him go even though he has been a key reserve for the team </articlebody>

<title>Cap issues in Carolina</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Carolina Panthers need to create some cap space before the start of free agency and it appears DE Mike Rucker will be released. Cutting him would get them under the cap without any other moves. However that doesn't give them much room to sign anyone else. That will come from restructured contracts and extensions. Dan Morgan may still be released as well as Mike Minter but those are not likely at least right now. Julius Peppers will be a target for an extension as well to reduce is cap number of over $14 million, but in lower his number this year they will be adding future troubles as well </articlebody>

<title>Panthers working on staff</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Geep Chryst has been named the team's tight ends coach after spending last year as the offensive quality control assistant. Also QB coach Mike McCoy will also have the title of passing coordinator. Too many teams are now using these multi-title coordinators for running and passing. Sounds too much like we don't have one man who can do the job </articlebody>
