Mike Nolan must have gone mad, or be desperate to energize his offense. Martz is a great offensive mind, but he hardly meshes with Mike Nolan's conservative grind it out approach. The team also does not have the type of players to really make his system work. It is one of the more surprising moves in a while, maybe since Rod Marinelli hired him 2 years ago. Marinelli was much the same but needed a strong offensive coach, that didn't work too well in Detroit. Well one thing for sure the 49ers offense won't be boring next year. Martz seems so wrong for the job it leads many to wonder about the interview. SOme speculate that Nolan who shares the same agent is doing it as a favor to Martz who doesn't seem to be in demand right now. It would have been a horrible decision for the 49ers who need to get it right. The hardest part for the 49ers is getting someone who won't be a head coach again in a year. Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron would be a good choice if he is fired, but a good year and he may get a shot again, we would doubt it but...
