<title>Cowboys get a tight end</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cowboys didn't need a tight end a few days ago but after trading Anthony Fasano they suddenly had a need and got one in round two with Martellus Bennett </articlebody>

<title>Cowboys move up</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Dallas Cowboys traded up after all but not so high... they went from #28 to #25. They used the pick to take CB Mike Jenkins... didn't we mention him a few minutes ago? Good to trade up for him as the Texans were next and likely would have taken them.. then the Chargers who may have as well. Now the Seahawks fall back a few spots and can still get Keller </articlebody>

<title>Cowboys select Felix Jones</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Well the just about every mock draft including ours had RB Felix Jones going #22 to the Cowboys and Jerry Jones went with it. He is an explosive back who has never carried the load. Neither has Marion Barber, but the two together is frightening </articlebody>

<title>Cowboys up</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Dallas Cowboys are up and we are going running back and cornerback.... Mendenhall is a still available as is Mike Jenkins and Felix Jones. They are the prime targets with a receiver to be taken later... wow do they keep falling </articlebody>

<title>Cowboys trade not done but another is</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cowboys trade for Pacman Jones isn't complete yet, but they have completed a different one. They have sent ILB Akin Ayodele and TE Anthony Fasano to the Miami Dolphins and Bill Parcells for a 4th round pick. Ayodele was going to lose his starting job to Zach Thomas and Fasano is playing behind Jason Witten, but was a 2nd round pick just two years ago. Seems like a lot to send for a 4th round pick even if it's the first pick in the round. The Dolphins get a good backup at tight end and a linebacker who can step in and start... certainly more than they could have gotten with the 4th round pick so for now they appear to be the winners </articlebody>

<title>Pacman finally heads to Big D</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>So Adam "Pacman" Jones is finally heading to the Cowboys. Dallas and the Tennessee Titans have reached an agreement according to ESPN... the Cowboys will send their 4th round pick, #126 overall, to the Titans. For protection the Cowboys added a clause that they get the Titans 4th round pick next year if Jones isn't reinstated by the league. It works out well for the Titans just to get something and get rid of Pacman. The Cowboys take a huge character chance, but what's new. If reinstated and he can quickly get back to form he would be a steal for a 4th round pick. A good corner and great return man he could add some electricity to the Cowboys. Of course he could certainly add some negative electricity as well and of course controversies as if they needed more. As for now it's a push and we'll have to wait and see what happens. A big question is how far if any this pushes down a corner on the Cowboys draft board </articlebody>

<title>Bengals may be nuts</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Bengals may be nuts, is this news? According to ESPN the Bengals have turned down an offer from the Washington Redskins for WR Chad Johnson... a first round pick this year, #21 overall, and a conditional third round pick next year that could escalate to a first rounder! Also they have told the Eagles and Cowboys they are not interested in trading the malcontent childish receiver. Hey were all for demanding players knock off the cry baby crap, threatening to hold out for the year etc. It's not like Johnson is not being paid well, he is. He can rot while others play the game for all we care, same should have been done with T.O. when he was whining to get out of the deal that had him go to the Ravens to end up in Philly, how well did that work out? Johnson is making enemies and we like the Bengals stand but it must hurt to pass up an offer like that </articlebody>

<title>Drafting wide receivers</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The NFL draft is a crapshoot and the 2008 version appears to be a little more than usual. No true #1 pick, some safer picks, some with more upside.... then there is the one constant, the danger of drafting a wide receiver in round one. Rookie receivers usually do not make a big impact, junior wide receivers may be flashy choices but are even more dangerous. This year the name moving up the charts is Devin Thomas... who? He is from Michigan State and a one year wonder. Let's see a junior with only one year of production, runs fast and has good size.. shoot him up the board.... danger!

What about a couple receivers who were consider near the top - Mario Manningham and Malcolm Kelly - both juniors and both falling down the boards. Neither ran a quality 40 time, but they have excuses. Those are part of the problem. Manningham lied about failing drug tests in college, then admitted to it and then sounded like an idiot on a national radio show. He clearly doesn't get it, but it appears NFL GM's do and there is little chance he goes in round one now. Kelly didn't run well and blamed his school for changing the surface he was to run on.... you see he had special shoes and everything. Ok this shoe thing is true of everyone now a days (ugh) but to come out and bash the school was an immature and dumb move on his part.

Why do people get so caught up on a 40 time of someone on a track with special shoes when they have been preparing to run this drill for months. Are they ever asked to run the 40 without pads and in tracks shoes during a game? Jerry Rice ran a 4.55 40 coming out of college but didn't look that slow when the speedy Redskins corner Darrell Green was chasing him... who really cares. I understand it has some value but it is far too overrated. How many times do receivers run in the 4.3s and then you hear people say that team needs receivers you can stretch the field and their current group isn't getting it done. The 40 speed doesn't make them a deep threat. Even better there have been top track guys playing receiver in the NFL and referred to as more of a possession guy... not saying the assessment was wrong but pointing out they were track stars just a couple years ago... NFL speed is different than track speed. Being fast at one doesn't make you fast at the other, get it? There are plenty of teams needing a receiver and some will reach for one, more will regret than will rejoice and fans will be excited in April and forget their names in October... such is life in the NFL in April </articlebody>

<title>Pacman may not be going to Dallas yet</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cowboys want to play pacman... but it will have to wait. The discuss trade is on the shelf for a bit. It makes sense for the Cowboys if they can get him very cheap, anything more than a late round pick is far too much. Look for it to wait until summer and then be a conditional 2009 pick depending on how Jones does both on and off field </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>We don't think Shaun Alexander is sleeping so well in Seattle anymore... the Seahawks ahve signed former Cowboys RB Julius Jones to a 4 year deal worth about $12 million. With the addition of Jones and TJ Duckett it looks like Alexander's days are done in Seattle and you wouldn't expect a big market for him once he is released either </articlebody>

<title>Prices going up</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Yes we know the salary cap has risen and the newest free agents are getting paid huge. A couple that stand out to us are Bernard Berrian and Alan Faneca, but for different reason. Berrian is not a top 5 certainly or even top 10 player at his position, he had one good year and average one the year before. Yes he is an up and coming receiver with great deep speed, but $42 million for 6 years and $16 million guaranteed? Sure the top player at the position gets paid more than he should in free agency, but Berrian wasn't the top player... what about Randy Moss. No one really counted him as they thought he was going back to the Patriots. Now how can Moss accept anything less than this... he certainly deserves to be paid much more than Berrian but the Patriots won't be paying that much. The Vikings really raised the bar on receivers here. On the other side Faneca raises the bar for offensive lineman but he certainly is in the top 3 at his position in the league and deserved to be paid more than all the guys last year, especially ones who haven't even earned a free trip to Hawaii. Faneca got more, but too much more... hint to Moss. Parity exists off the field as well. By the same token these players should be getting more than all the draft picks coming into the league. After all remember the #1 pick in the draft this year will be pushing for $35 million guaranteed. Taking that into consideration what is Moss, Faneca or even Berrian worth in comparison? It is easy to see there are some real issues that need to be fixed, but don't hold your breath. Moss... he figures to see $20-$22 million guaranteed tops, but the real questions is who will pay it... New England, Green Bay... probably not, Dallas don't count on it... after the year he had who thought he would have this much trouble finding a contract </articlebody>

<articlebody>The Broncos tried to trade WR Javon Walker (who cost them a 2nd round pick just 2 years ago) but with no buyers they have released him to avoid a $5.4 million roster bonus next week. <title>Fins get Ferguson cheap</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Dolphins have their nose tackle completing a trade with the Cowboys for Jason Ferguson according to the Dallas Morning News. The teams will swap picks in the 6th round and Miami will send a 6th round pick next year as well. That works out well for the Fins who get the man they wanted and didn't have to pay much for an aging veteran coming off an injury. All in all good for both but advantage Fins. The Cowboys saw him as expendable after the emergence of Jay Ratliff </articlebody>

<title>Jacques Reeves far too popular</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Free agency always make some scratch their head at the over priced deals and players who get picked on the previous get hyped up. For the moment we pick former Cowboys corner Jacques Reeves who is far too popular on the first day of free agency with the Bucs, Saints, Rams, Chiefs and Texans all in hot pursuit of someone who will play with a target on his back. Funny the Saints are in it, didn't they have the same thing happen last year with Jason David. If he goes to Tampa or Kansas City he may ft better in their Tampa 2 defense which won't make him run and cover deep as much </articlebody>

Thrown out there by Fox Sports it would make a dominant pair, but does anyone really think that would work? Exciting and scary. <title>Bills dump Price</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>No surprise but the Buffalo Bills have dumped WR Peerless Price. Oh how things can change and you can never go back. Price spent his first four years in the league with the Bills and he and Eric Moulds created a great combo. After the 2002 season in which he caught 94 balls for 1,252 yards he went for the big money in free agency with the Atlanta Falcons and the chance to be a #1 receiver and step out of the shadow of Moulds. That backfired to say the least! He caught 64 passes the first year with the Falcons and 45 the second before getting released as a huge disappointment. He then signed on with Dallas who let a similar player go, anyone remember Alvin Harper, and he caught a whopping 6 passes for them before heading home to Buffalo in 2006 where he did a bit better with 49 receptions but for a measly 402 yards and last year played only 4 games and caught 7 balls.... the Price isn't right anymore </articlebody>

<title>Wasting tax payers dollars</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Ah yes tax time is near and the pain of seeing how much money we fork over to cause deep pain in our stomachs. Then of course there is all the good that comes from it, such as members of congress spending the day listening to the he said she said of Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee (don't forget Andy Pettitte too) and now a new wonderful word "Nannygate", ugh what has this world come to? Add to that Arlen Specter grilling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over the spygate issue, threatening congressional hearings and the league's antitrust exemption. Do these blowhard's not have anything better to do with their days??? Do we not have any serious issues to be tackled in this great country that we have time to bicker and seek headlines with this crap? Hey guys call me when you fix the economy, health care, homelessness in this rich country and a list longer than.... then we can get around to which retired baseball players did what. Other than Barry Bonds the rest of this is ridiculous and makes me not want to pay attention to the sports we all love so much. This country has become addicted to soap opera's and reality crap where everyone wants their 15 minutes. It's not like this is all brand new, the Steelers of the 70s admittedly used steroids and they certainly were not alone but no one is calling to take back their Super Bowl wins. Lester Hayes is probably my favorite corner of all time, but he reported used something to help him get a better grip. Can we all just move on and focus on trying to fix things rather than going over the top about the past. Either way Roger was dominant, the Patriots were superior and as much as it pains us Bonds was a Hall of Famer before they all crossed the line </articlebody>

<title>Jim Mora out in DC</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>This year has been interesting, more than I can remember in the last 5 years combined there are so many coaches withdrawing from consideration or not even wanting to interview for head coaching job this year it is getting comical. The latest is Seahawks assistant Jim Mora who has pulled out of consideration with the Redskins... let that lead to rumors about Mike Holmgren. <title>Garrett to stay in Big D</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will keep offensive coordinator Jason Garrett who has pulled out of the Ravens and Falcons head coaching search. The Ravens have said they did begin negotiating with him, but he chose to stay in Dallas. He certainly got a big raise and likely a promise to be promoted soon. The Ravens job was attractive but a challenge as well. While there are only 32 of these job can't say that Atlanta looks that great. Many times an assistant can be hot one year and then forgotten, Garrett seems safe with the Cowboys though. One spot to keep an eye could be Seattle if Mike Holmgren were to step down. That could be a spot that would entice him </articlebody>

<articlebody>Reports are circulating that the Ravens and Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett are close or that the Ravens have offered him the job. Teams usually don't release that so a safe bet in Garrett did to up the ante. The Cowboys are said to be willing to match any offer to keep him as their coordinator, which is probably the best job for him on 2008. The Falcons are still in the mix, and a surprise is Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has called. That is a big rivalry and to take their coach would make it more interesting. Sparano was the favorite for the job from the start and many are reporting he is already putting his staff together. <title>Another win for New England</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Not much in the way of surprises in the award season as today Bill Belichick was named as the AP coach of the year. He won with 29 votes, Packers coach Mike McCarthy was second with 15 of the 50 available votes. You can talk about spygate if want, but seriously they went 16-0.... who else did more than that? The Packers 13-3 season was great, but even a 15-1 season is a long ways from 16-0! Sygate happened during the first game and had no effect on the rest of the year. Belichick without doubt deserved the award and if anything we are surprised he didn't get more votes! Dallas' Wade Phillips and Jacksonville's Jack Del Rio each got 2 votes, and Indianapolis' Tony Dungy and Tampa Bay's Jon Gruden got one each to round out the voting </articlebody>

<title>Coaching moves</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Something to consider now that Miami has made a change. You will have to add Miami to the list of teams that will be interested in Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who was the Dolphins QB coach in 2006. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will do everything in his power not to lose him, but he may have created his own mess and be unable to control it. If Garrett does leave would Cameron consider coming to Dallas? He worked with Wade Phillips in San Diego where they were each coordinators and Jerry certainly with outbid other teams interested. He would have a talented offense that could lift him quickly back to another head coaching job... it's certainly plan B for Jones and with the Cowboys in the playoffs could take some time for things to come clear here but something to keep an eye on. Garrett, only 41 years old, will be in such demand he will be able to pick his job or wait a year knowing his "star" won't fade before next year and Jerry certainly would give him a raise to wait a year. The Ravens be the one team with an opening who may consider Cameron for a head coaching spot, but after a 1-15 year that would be a tough sell </articlebody>

<title>The Ax falls in Miami</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The ax has fallen again in Miami, head coach Cam Cameron and nearly his whole staff have been fired. The only ones kept are assistant special teams coach Steve Hoffman and linebackers coach George Edwards. Cameron was a hot candidate last year after being the offensive coordinator in San Diego, but didn't find success with the Dolphins who flirted with another kind of record while the Patriots were going after the perfect season, the Dolphins near to the exact opposite. Something had to give and that means Cameron is gone after just one year. He will be a sought after coordinator very quickly, teams like the Chiefs and 49ers may have already called. For the Dolphins this allows Bill Parcells, er Jeff Ireland to select a coach they feel can lead them back and there is a long list of coaches that have worked with Bill that will get attention </articlebody>

<articlebody>Reports are Cowboys scout Jeff Ireland will be interviewing with Bill Parcells soon, and the announcement of him as GM is expected quickly thereafter. Parcells has already done the most expected move of the day letting go of Randy Mueller as GM. It will be interesting to watch Parcells in this role and see if he stays behind the scenes and as an advisor and not the hands on decision maker of the team </articlebody>

<title>Terry Glenn sighting</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cowboys have done quite well this year without starting WR Terry Glenn, but it appears he may be getting closer to returning. Glenn was running routes during the individual part of practice Wednesday and could be back for 1 or possibly 2 regular season games to tune up for the playoffs </articlebody>

<title>Young one out duels original</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Too many compare Cowboys QB Tony Romo to Packers QB Brett Favre. Romo grew up in Wisconsin and was a Packer fan (did we need to mention someone who lives in Wisconsin was a Packer fan?) growing up. Thursday night in the big matchup Favre looked miserable before being knocked out of the game after being hit on the arm. The hit caused some numbness in his hand and he also separated his left shoulder on the play. That actually turned out to be a bad thing as backup QB Aaron Rodgers played much better and kept the Packers in the game. In the end Romo and the air attack was too much for the Packers who fell 37-27 to the now 11-1 Dallas Cowboys </articlebody>

<title>Forever Young</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>In the new reality series, Grandpa's challenge... Brett Favre out did Vinny Testaverde Sunday. Thankfully due to their ages it was a one day series. The Panthers looked good early but just could not hold. Everything just seems to be working in Green Bay, but the next week and a half is huge. Travelling to Detroit for Thanksgiving won't be easy and the Lions are smarting after their loss at home to the Giants. They had plans of winning both and getting in the fight for the division. The following week the Packers travel to Dallas for a Thursday night game against the Cowboys. The schedule gets a bit better after that, but home field advantage is likely going to be decided right here </articlebody>

<title>Gets worse for Rams</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>As if being 0-3 and having to travel to Dallas on Sunday wasn't bad enough, now the Rams will have to do it without RB Steven Jackson who will miss the game with a groin injury. Rookie Brian Leonard will likely start, but it will have to be Marc Bulger that makes up the difference throwing the ball. They better hope for a hangover from a big win Sunday night for the Cowboys, because even in the open NFC West you can start planning for next year at 0-4 </articlebody>

<title>Big battle in Chicago</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Sunday night's game gave everyone a look at two elite NFC teams to see if the Cowboys were ready to take the next step. Te answer was a resounding yes! Tony Romo had a great game, but please quit anointing him so early, remember what it got you last year. Romo had a very good game 329 yards and a pair of TDs along with 1 INT. WR Terrell Owens also did well against coverage from the Bears Charles Tillman all night nabbing 8 catches for 145 yards. Ass for the Bears offense (or lack of it) it was definitely the bad Rex and Wrecks could be done this time, and should be. Three interceptions and a feeble running game makes for a tough win and ending in a 34-10 thumping by the Boys </articlebody>

<title>Tank Johnson finally signs with Cowboys</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>In a move long anticipated the Dallas Cowboys have signed former Bears DT Tank Johnson to a 2 year deal. They were expected from the start to be one of the most interested teams after the Bears let him go, but after losing NT Jason Ferguson that became even more obvious. Tank is still serving his 8 game suspension but the team hopes he can provide them with another impact player for the second half of the season and the playoffs </articlebody>

<title>Cowboys start 2-0</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Don't look now but the Cowboys have started 2-0 in a shaky NFC. They have put up 82 points in 2 games without WR Terry Glenn and are making a statement to the rest of the conference. Their defense looked much better this week as they nabbed 4 interceptions from Dolphins QB Trent Green. As for the Dolphins, let's be kind and just say they have some issues </articlebody>

<title>Ferguson done</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Cowboys NT Jason Ferguson is done for the year and now the team must find someone to add to the roster. Tank Johnson rumors are flying but he has to serve an 8 game suspension so he is of no immediate help. They may add a free agent this week and see how the position holds up but a trade next week may be possible though it is hard to find a nose tackle on the trade market </articlebody>

<title>Cowboys win opener</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cowboys won an exciting game over division rival but may have lost starting nose tackle Jason Ferguson who left the game after injuring his arm. ESPN is reporting he is done for the year with a torn bicep. Not good for a 3-4 defense to lose the nose tackle in the opener! Also the Cowboys learned they need a better nickel corner Jacques Reeves who is suppose to be the nickel had to start for Terence Newman and was thoroughly beaten by Plaxico Burress </articlebody>

<title>Great article</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Here is a great article by Fox Sports' <A href="http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7146400?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=5" target="_blank"> John Czarnecki</A> about how the NFL rookie are being paid way too much. "It doesn't make sense that LaRon Landry is the highest paid safety in the game," Cowboys executive Stephen Jones told me. "And that Joe Thomas (Cleveland's top pick) has a better deal than Tom Brady. For example, Chiefs running back Larry Johnson signed yesterday for less guaranteed money than what Johnson and Thomas collected, and only a moron would say those rookies deserve more than one of the NFL's best running backs... we're right there with you John, good work</A> </articlebody>

<articlebody>The Cowboys got back into the first round with a trade with division rival Eagles and took DE/OLB Anthony Spencer. New head coach Wade Phillips wanted a second rush linebacker and in Anthony Spencer it's possible he got the best one in the draft. Not the highest rank but he looks great in a 3-4 defense and with Wade Phillips instructing him and Ware on the other side the defense could take a big jump. The Eagles got a 2nd, 3rd and 5th round pick in return </articlebody>

<title>Browns get Quinn too</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Browns thought long and hard about Quinn at #3 overall and traded back into the first round to get him at #22 trading with the Dallas Cowboys. Quinn isn't happy but he does have Joe Thomas blocking for him now. Quinn will come in and be the face of the organization (sorry for Joe Thomas, but he will likely be happy to be a little more quiet now). An excellent pick, a incredible value at the spot. The Browns draft is looking much better now. They paid a very heavy price of their 2nd round pick and a first round next year. The Cowboys could get even more if the Browns don't have a good year, good value for the Cowboys too </articlebody>
