<title>Chiefs select Brandon Flowers</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Chiefs needed a corner after the first round and at the top of round two they got one in Brandon Flowers who is a physical player who could be a great fit in the Cover 2 defense they run. The Packers were up next and may have liked to get him. The Chiefs are doing amazingly well today, big time winners </articlebody>

<title>Chiefs get Branden Albert</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Chiefs have moved up from #17 to the Lions #15 to get guard / tackle Branden Albert who many had them taking at #5. I'll say it right now, they have won the draft with Albert and Glenn Dorsey. They certainly have the picks to move around and likely are not done making trades yet. This won't cost much and was smart as someone else could have come up for Albert who shouldn't have lasted this long. A good move for the Lions to gain a pick and only move back two spots </articlebody>

<title>Glenn Dorsey goes to Kansas City</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Glenn Dorsey goes to Kansas City #5 overall... while I love the pick and he is a great value here, if the Chiefs were really offered the Saints #1 this year and their 2nd this year as well as their number 1 next year they should have taken the offer! They would miss out on the d'line in round one, but could have gotten a tackle and corner and would have added another #2 this year. Now look for a corner at #17. Dorsey will be a huge addition to the middle of the Chiefs defense and despite what we said this was a great pick </articlebody>

<articlebody>Ok here is our final <a href="http://www.pfinsider.net/rumorst.php?ref=35"><B>2008 NFL Mock Draft</B></A>. Glad we got the first pick right and guaranteed not to get all 32 thanks to the Patriots, but never came close anyway </articlebody>

<title>Vikings trying to buy wins</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Vikings are aggressively trying to improve this off season. At least that is how you have to presume all the money they are spending. Add their newest addition... former Chiefs DE Jared Allen who they have acquired for a 1st round and two 3rd round picks this year. The teams also swapped 6th round picks so the Vikings move up there. As if that wasn't a big enough price to pay the Vikings then signed Allen to a 6 year $74 million monster deal with $31 million guaranteed. Holy #@!% !!! That is a ton of money for a player one strike away from a year long suspension... ok that is a lot of money for any player, over a $12 million average! Will have to wait until all the numbers are released to see how much funny money is in there, but $31 million guaranteed represents over $5 million a year. The deal makes him one of the highest paid players in the league and the Vikings hope playing on the turf makes him even faster improving on his excellent sack numbers which led the league last year with 15.5. The Chiefs now are loaded for the draft. It gives them 13 overall picks and 6 in the first 82 meaning they can move up if they want as 13 is a lot of draft picks to bring to camp, but get younger they will. With the two first rounders they should get a player to take Allen's place and help on the offensive line </articlebody>

<title>2008 NFL Mock Draft</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>So it's time to release our first 2008 NFL Mock Draft - another will come Friday before the draft. There is lots of intrigue and different scenarios and some trades will factor in of course, but we'll take a look where things are at now. See our <a href="http://www.pfinsider.net/rumorst.php?ref=34">2008 NFL Mock Draft</A>

<title>Chiefs willing to deal Jared Allen</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>With the draft approaching the Chiefs have decided to shop franchise DE Jared Allen, and there is interest. The Vikings and Bucs are the most interested but the Jaguars could be as well. It's not known what the Chiefs will demand in return, but it will include a first rounder this year and likely a third as well, or better next year. Allen had 15.5 sacks last year and is one of the top ends in the league, but also one strike away from a one year suspension so there is risk in trading away a couple of high picks and of course the huge long term deal he wants for someone that close to being gone. Not that that will stop someone from trading for him. The move would give the Chiefs more options as they could take Vernon Gholston to replace him at #5 and get a tackle with the first round pick they get in return, or get a lineman at #5 - Jake Long if a miracle happened or more likely Branden Albert or Ryan Clady and then target one of the ends or corners later in the first. The extra picks would certainly give them more options for rebuilding the team </articlebody>

<title>Broncos pre-draft moves</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Broncos are making some moves ahead of the draft to shore up a need after Brandon Marshall's injury. They have signed former Chiefs WR Samie Parker and former Seahawk and 49ers WR Darrell Jackson to a one year deals and released WR Derrick Hamilton and tight end Chad Upshaw. They also sign a camp leg in punter Danny Baugher. Jackson's addition could be big if he can regain old form. He spent a miserable year in San Francisco last year where he just didn't seem to fit, get open, or care that much. His production did go up at the end of the year as the team played more of a West Coast type of offense so there is hope he will come back to life in Denver </articlebody>

<title>Trent Green returns to Rams</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>QB Trent Green has agreed to return to the St. Louis Rams after being released earlier this off season. It is a 3 year $8.9 million deal with $4 million coming in the first year. That is a lot of coin to pay a backup QB with just a couple of health issues. He is re-uniting with Al Saunders who was the offensive coordinator while he was in Kansas City and now has the same role in St. Louis </articlebody>

<title>Jets keep signing</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Jets are becoming a free agency team despite what the front office says about building through the draft. They have added former Vikings and Chiefs FB Tony Richardson to help open holes with a offensive line getting new additions too. Thomas Jones should be a little happier this year, now will it show on the field </articlebody>

<title>Jacques Reeves far too popular</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Free agency always make some scratch their head at the over priced deals and players who get picked on the previous get hyped up. For the moment we pick former Cowboys corner Jacques Reeves who is far too popular on the first day of free agency with the Bucs, Saints, Rams, Chiefs and Texans all in hot pursuit of someone who will play with a target on his back. Funny the Saints are in it, didn't they have the same thing happen last year with Jason David. If he goes to Tampa or Kansas City he may ft better in their Tampa 2 defense which won't make him run and cover deep as much </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Chiefs have released 35 year old WR Eddie Kennison, who while never making a name for himself (other than quitting other Broncos) led the Chiefs in receptions for a number of years. <title>Chiefs cut John Welbourn</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Kansas City Chiefs have cut starting OG John Welbourn starting an off season that figures to see a high player turnover. There are certainly more veterans to be cut the most obvious is LB Kendrell Bell, but the biggest name may be Ty Law. If Law does get the ax, what are the odds the Patriots may look to bring him back. He isn't the player he once was but he fits the system well and they do well finding the right mix of youth and aged veterans. Bell was the defensive rookie of the year with the Steelers and looked like he was going to be a star before getting injured in his second year and never really returned to his previous form </articlebody>

<title>Wasting tax payers dollars</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Ah yes tax time is near and the pain of seeing how much money we fork over to cause deep pain in our stomachs. Then of course there is all the good that comes from it, such as members of congress spending the day listening to the he said she said of Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee (don't forget Andy Pettitte too) and now a new wonderful word "Nannygate", ugh what has this world come to? Add to that Arlen Specter grilling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over the spygate issue, threatening congressional hearings and the league's antitrust exemption. Do these blowhard's not have anything better to do with their days??? Do we not have any serious issues to be tackled in this great country that we have time to bicker and seek headlines with this crap? Hey guys call me when you fix the economy, health care, homelessness in this rich country and a list longer than.... then we can get around to which retired baseball players did what. Other than Barry Bonds the rest of this is ridiculous and makes me not want to pay attention to the sports we all love so much. This country has become addicted to soap opera's and reality crap where everyone wants their 15 minutes. It's not like this is all brand new, the Steelers of the 70s admittedly used steroids and they certainly were not alone but no one is calling to take back their Super Bowl wins. Lester Hayes is probably my favorite corner of all time, but he reported used something to help him get a better grip. Can we all just move on and focus on trying to fix things rather than going over the top about the past. Either way Roger was dominant, the Patriots were superior and as much as it pains us Bonds was a Hall of Famer before they all crossed the line </articlebody>

<title>Chan Gailey to lead Chiefs offense</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Kansas City Chiefs have hire Chan Gailey to be their new offensive coordinator. Gailey was fired as the head coach at Georgia Tech and wanted to return to the NFL where he had been a coordinator for the Steelers and Dolphins as well as the Cowboys head coach from 98-99. His last stop was Miami where the offense didn't fare too well, but he has a good offensive mind and will fit in with Herm Edwards running a run first offense </articlebody>

<title>The Ax falls in Miami</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The ax has fallen again in Miami, head coach Cam Cameron and nearly his whole staff have been fired. The only ones kept are assistant special teams coach Steve Hoffman and linebackers coach George Edwards. Cameron was a hot candidate last year after being the offensive coordinator in San Diego, but didn't find success with the Dolphins who flirted with another kind of record while the Patriots were going after the perfect season, the Dolphins near to the exact opposite. Something had to give and that means Cameron is gone after just one year. He will be a sought after coordinator very quickly, teams like the Chiefs and 49ers may have already called. For the Dolphins this allows Bill Parcells, er Jeff Ireland to select a coach they feel can lead them back and there is a long list of coaches that have worked with Bill that will get attention </articlebody>

<title>Chiefs fire 4 offensive coaches</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Kansas City Chiefs have fired 4 offensive coaches: coordinator Mike Solari, wide receivers coach Charlie Joiner, line coach John Matsko and running backs coach James Saxon according to the KC Star. Changes were known to be coming after a horrid season for the Chiefs. Solari is a good line coach but was not cut out to be a coordinator. He was chosen after Al Saunders left for big bucks in Washington to keep the same offense. Injuries, age and poor QB play led to disaster this year leading to a busy off season </articlebody>

<title>Paying running backs big money</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Each year some teams struggle with the decision to pay a running back big money. A couple years ago it was the Seahawks Shaun Alexander who got the big deal and has done nothing since. This the Chiefs Larry Johnson held out for a big contract to have a horrible year. Meanwhile the Packers lack of a running game was a huge concern this year, and out of nowhere comes Ryan Grant who was with the Giants during training camp and he now has a 5 yard per carry average. Some thought they should have kept Ahman Green even at age 30, but he has logged only 70 carries this year for the Texans and 260 yards for a huge 3.7 yard average, and wasn't that a concern last year how the last two years in Green bay his average was down. The Broncos have shown it for years that you can get by without a huge contract to a back, though they did pay a bit this year for Travis Henry, and Selvin Young is out-performing him. It is hard to let them go or not pay them, but it can be hard on the future if you do too often as well </articlebody>

<title>Damon Huard leads Chiefs to win</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Chiefs RB Larry Johnson again was unable to get rolling but QB Damon Huard took over and got the job done making sure they didn't fall to 0-3 on the year. The Chiefs beat the Vikings 13-10 with a nice 16 yards TD to rookie WR Dwyane Bowe in the 4th quarter. Kelly Holcomb got the start for the Vikings but he and the receivers couldn't do enough despite rookie Adrian Peteron's 102 yards rushing and 48 receiving </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Will someone please answer why team still kick to Devin Hester? Punt and Kick the ball out of bounds... much safer. Bears QB Rex Grossman wasn't so good but Hester kept the Bears alive against a struggling Chiefs team with a punt return for a TD and another long return later. Cedric Benson got 101 yards on 24 carries as Larry Johnson had another quiet day. It will be a long long year for the Chiefs </articlebody>

<title>Long day for KC</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The first play for the Chiefs offense WR Eddie Kennison hurt his hamstring and that was a bad way to start and it didn't get any better. Larry Johnson had just 43 yards and a long run of 8 yards, yippee. Damn Huard looked like he was keeping the seat warm for Brodie Croyle. He did complete 2/3rd of his passes but for just 168 yards and 2 INTs </articlebody>

<articlebody>Here is a great article by Fox Sports' <A href="http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7146400?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=5" target="_blank"> John Czarnecki</A> about how the NFL rookie are being paid way too much. "It doesn't make sense that LaRon Landry is the highest paid safety in the game," Cowboys executive Stephen Jones told me. "And that Joe Thomas (Cleveland's top pick) has a better deal than Tom Brady. For example, Chiefs running back Larry Johnson signed yesterday for less guaranteed money than what Johnson and Thomas collected, and only a moron would say those rookies deserve more than one of the NFL's best running backs... we're right there with you John, good work</A> </articlebody>

<title>Touble in KC</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>So the Chiefs get their top pick signed and then lose their top free agent addition... OLT Damion McIntosh went down with a sprained knee Tuesday and the team fears he tore his ACL which would end his season. The Chiefs line was a concern before and now they may need to look to trade for some help. Will Svitek replaced him on Tuesday and Kyle Turley could be an option but he couldn't cut it last year. He isn't the player he was before with the Rams and is more a right tackle anyway. A left tackle will be very hard to find, one name to watch is Kwame Harris of the 49ers. He is their starting right tackle but has played on the left side before. A strong run blocker, but a liability in pass protection, the 49ers would be open to a trade after taking Joe Staley in the first round of the draft </articlebody>

<title>Trent Green finally a Dolphin</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The long dance is finally over as the Kansas City Chiefs have traded QB Trent Green to the Miami Dolphins for a 5th round pick that can become a 4th round pick if certain levels are met. The teams were stubbornly not able to make a deal for so long it became an annoying story to follow. The Chiefs wanted a 4th rounder and the Dolphins only wanted to give a 6th. What seemed to be an obvious compromise of a 5th took forever. Of course the Chiefs feel they got something extra with the possibility of it becoming a 4th rounder. This should also close the door on Daunte Culpepper who is available via trade but if something isn't done quickly he will be released </articlebody>

<title>High horse parked in KC</title>

<articlebody>Someone needs to knock Chiefs GM Carl Peterson off his perch. He is holding tight to his demand of a 2nd round pick for QB Trent Green from the Dolphins. That's fine, it's his right. However he told the Kansas City Star - "I told Randy that they made a great trade with New England," Peterson said, referring to a recent deal that sent Wes Welker to the Patriots. "They got for what we would consider a third wide receiver and kick-return specialist second- and seventh-round draft picks. I told him that I think a starting quarterback is worth that. Interesting but I don't think they plan on starting him this year so what does he consider a backup QB worth? And what does any of that have to do with the Chiefs anyway? If Peterson holds Green in such high regard maybe he shouldn't be peddling him. Green will be 37 years old before the start of the season and suffered a severe concussion last year, so how many years does he have in him to possibly be a starter for the Dolphins? We'd say one or two tops where as Welker will be 26 when the season starts, has played only three years in the league and is an ascending player while Green is on his last legs... nice try but rather stupid to say </articlebody>

<title>Chiefs resign James Reed</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Kansas City Chiefs have resigned DT James Reed to a one year deal. ESPN is reporting it is worth $2.5-$3 million with $200,000 to sign. The Chiefs entered the off season with questions on the d'line but have now resigned both starting tackles from last year and added Alfonso Boone from the Bears. More depth will come in the draft. Surprisingly former first round bust Ryan Sims has yet to be released, but that hardly means he make the team again... just a matter of time </articlebody>

<title>Browns looking to go Green</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cleveland Browns asked about Chiefs QB Trent Green during the owners meetings according to the Plain Dealer. The Browns hold the number three pick in the draft and should have one of the top QB's still on the board when they pick but also like Adrian Peterson. Don't expect them to land Green but it is interesting. Miami is still the most likely trade partner but not until the two teams agree on a price. Don't be surprised to see it be a pair of mid to lower round picks maybe a 4th this year and a 5th next year </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Chiefs QB Trent Green wants to play in Miami according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel where he would be coach by Cam Cameron who he knows from their days in Washington, but according to the Kansas City Star the Lions are also interested. The Dolphins are also looking at David Carr but it is safe to say they prefer Green if they can swing a trade with the Chiefs. Look for Green to be dealt in the coming days as meetings take players with the GMs at the owners meeting this week. Daunte Culpepper's career in Miami could be a short one as well if they acquire Green adding another veteran to the market </articlebody>

Think they are reaching a bit there with that signing, especially at that price he will be moving into the starting lineup. He is familiar with the defense the Chiefs run but if he were worth it the Vikings wouldn't have been looking for an upgrade.
