<title>Browns extend Shaun Rogers</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Browns believe that newly acquired nose tackle Shaun Rogers will be an excellent long term fit and have rewarded him with a new long term deal worth $42 million over 6 years. The deal includes $20 million guaranteed and $23 million over the first 3 years. Rogers has struggled with his weight, consistency on the field and desire in the past and the Browns better hope he doesn't become too satisfied with his new contract and take it easy. He is talented enough to be a star nose tackle just like Ted Washington was for so many years, but he could also eat his way out of the league and into the coaches doghouse rather quickly if not motivated </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cleveland Browns have added another receiving threat to improve their offense, agreeing to terms with former Patriots WR Donte' Stallworth according to ESPN. This will add a little more pressure to the Patriots (although they really didn't try to bring Stallworth back) to resign Randy Moss. Last year was the first time they have so many receiving options, but now they could be leaving quickly </articlebody>

<title>Rogers moving but where</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>SO Lions DT Shaun Rogers was headed to Cincinnati wasn't he... must be dealing with the Bungals again... or maybe they got smart, hard to say but it appears the trade may have fallen through. Reports out of Detroit say the deal may have fallen through and now Cleveland is possible, no word on what happened but it should get sorted out quick as the Lions need to move him to avoid his roster bonus </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>

Dallas has been mentioned as an interested team but there will be plenty more, Cleveland and Tampa among them </articlebody>

<title>Jeff Faine lands in Tampa</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Bucs continue to improve their offensive line, landed former Saints center Jeff Faine who will become one of the highest paid centers in the league. The comedy here is the Browns signed LeCharles Bentley a couple of years ago and made him the highest paid center (how did that work out) and Faine went to New Orleans to replace him. Now the Saints lose him to Tampa... in the end the Browns would have been much better locking Faine up to a much cheaper long term deal two years ago </articlebody>

<title>Corey Williams heads to Cleveland</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cleveland Browns have worked a trade for Packers franchised DT Corey Williams... but for much less than 2 first round picks. The BRowns will send their second round pick to Green Bay for Williams and then sign him to a big contract. All ends well for Williams who didn't get to fully test free agency but got his big contract and the Packers at least get something in return </articlebody>

<title>Browns tender Derek Anderson</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cleveland Browns have tendered QB Derek Anderson at the highest level, meaning a team would have to get a poison pill in the contract so the Browns wouldn't match it and then would receive a first and third round pick. Don't look for that to happen, but the Browns would be ok with Brady Quinn in the wings as well </articlebody>

<title>Browns close with Anderson</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cleveland Browns may be close to signing QB Derek Anderson to a 3 year $20 million contract with half of that guaranteed according to the Columbus Dispatch. He reportedly turned down a 3 year $16 million deal with $11 million guaranteed. The deal is a good one for both sides. Anderson secures his future, there is no telling what could happen if he play for the $2.52 million tender this year... injuries, step back in play etc. The contract gives him some security as it does the Browns for 3 years to see what to do after that with him and Brady Quinn. It also leaves Anderson set to be a free agent next after the 2010 season when he will be just 27 years old (or 28 in June before the season starts), right in his prime earning years </articlebody>

<title>Wasting tax payers dollars</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Ah yes tax time is near and the pain of seeing how much money we fork over to cause deep pain in our stomachs. Then of course there is all the good that comes from it, such as members of congress spending the day listening to the he said she said of Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee (don't forget Andy Pettitte too) and now a new wonderful word "Nannygate", ugh what has this world come to? Add to that Arlen Specter grilling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over the spygate issue, threatening congressional hearings and the league's antitrust exemption. Do these blowhard's not have anything better to do with their days??? Do we not have any serious issues to be tackled in this great country that we have time to bicker and seek headlines with this crap? Hey guys call me when you fix the economy, health care, homelessness in this rich country and a list longer than.... then we can get around to which retired baseball players did what. Other than Barry Bonds the rest of this is ridiculous and makes me not want to pay attention to the sports we all love so much. This country has become addicted to soap opera's and reality crap where everyone wants their 15 minutes. It's not like this is all brand new, the Steelers of the 70s admittedly used steroids and they certainly were not alone but no one is calling to take back their Super Bowl wins. Lester Hayes is probably my favorite corner of all time, but he reported used something to help him get a better grip. Can we all just move on and focus on trying to fix things rather than going over the top about the past. Either way Roger was dominant, the Patriots were superior and as much as it pains us Bonds was a Hall of Famer before they all crossed the line </articlebody>

<title>Quick Change in Cleveland</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Just before the 2007 season Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel was on the hot seat. Many didn't expect him to make it, but surprise surprise even after benching and then trading their starting QB after the first game (how odd that was) things turned around fast. To cap off a year that saw them finish just short of the playoffs Crennel has agreed to a 2 year contract extension keeping him with the team through 2011. With the offense clicking Crennel needs to focus on improving the defense </articlebody>

<title>Huge Shocker</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>A huge shocker in the offensive rookie of the year voting... Vikings RB Adrian Peterson won! Oh wait we kind of knew that midseason. The next big shock comes when the 49ers LB Patrick Willis wins the defensive rookie of the year. The Lions Calvin Johnson was widely assumed to have won the award on draft day, but never count out the running backs who touch the ball more. Peterson was explosive and has the Vikings excited about the future. Now if they can just find a QB to go with him. Browns left tackle Joe Thomas received 3.5 votes of the 50 with the rest going to Peterson </articlebody>

<title>Browns open to move Anderson</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>An interesting decision from the Cleveland Browns who say they will listen to offers for QB Derek Anderson according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Anderson had a very good year and is a restricted free agent. The Browns have Brady Quinn waiting and could get a hefty price in return for Anderson to help them make the next step. Is Quinn ready? Is Anderson the next great thing? He didn't finish the year great and there has been some rumblings that he may stumble. If they feel Quinn is the real thing and has more upside than Anderson they may see his trade value peaked right now and want to cash in </articlebody>

<title>Learn from history</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Memo to you kids out there.. learn from history. Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin watched a win get taken from him last week when the Broncos called timeout just before the Raiders kicked what would have been a game winner, then after the timeout the kick was missed. This week the Browns had a chance to win the game at the last second, but Kiffin called a timeout and of course Phil Dawson made it... on the "real" try.... it was blocked and the Raiders pulled out a 26-24 win. Congrats to Kiffin for learning from last week and getting his first win as a head coach </articlebody>

<title>The Browns did what</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>What a stunning game in Cleveland. The morbid franchise left for dead came out swinging and put up 51 points, and the Bengals who we thought had an energized defense last week found this week that they were just lucky, well not this week though. Browns QB Derek Anderson may not be the savior, but after a 328 yard and 5 TD performance it will silence the calls for Brady Quinn for at least a week. RB Jamal Lewis also came to life with a 216 yard day torching the Bengals defense which was correctly thought to be a weakness coming into the year. The Bengals offense put 45 in the loss but proved not to be enough, not that is saying something </articlebody>

<title>Frye not worth much</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Not that we expected more, but what did the Browns get for their starting QB? A measly sixth round pick from the Seahawks, not a bad deal for them! And you thought they would put Brady Quinn in as a starter, nope Derek Anderson is up next for a short while. Next week may be a new story (would it surprise you?) but it appears the Browns still want to wait until after the bye week to start Quinn </articlebody>

<title>Charlie Frye on his way out</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>According to WTAM radio in Cleveland Charlie Frye will be traded today or cut and the team will sign Ken Dorsey to serve as the #3 QB. <title>Great article</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Here is a great article by Fox Sports' <A href="http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7146400?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=5" target="_blank"> John Czarnecki</A> about how the NFL rookie are being paid way too much. "It doesn't make sense that LaRon Landry is the highest paid safety in the game," Cowboys executive Stephen Jones told me. "And that Joe Thomas (Cleveland's top pick) has a better deal than Tom Brady. For example, Chiefs running back Larry Johnson signed yesterday for less guaranteed money than what Johnson and Thomas collected, and only a moron would say those rookies deserve more than one of the NFL's best running backs... we're right there with you John, good work</A> </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>

<title>So Brady is a Brown</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Browns have finally agreed to a deal with their second first round pick QB Brady Quinn. A 5 year $20.2 million deal with $7.75 million guaranteed which could reach $30 million overall if incentives are net according to ESPN. Head coach Romeo Crennel clearly can't be happy about the holdout as his job is on the line, he referred to Quinn today as the quarterback... not a nice way to start. Quinn won't be the opening day starter now, but he didn't look like he would be anyway in mini camps. Quinn struggled quite a bit despite coming from a pro style offense in college run by Charlie Weiss. It was Weiss who said in three years he'd be one of the best, have to wait an see on that. If Charlie Frye or Derek Anderson can't move the offense Quinn will get his shot mid-season, but he is way behind now and has a lot of work to do </articlebody>

<title>Brady Quinn still holdigng out</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Brady Quinn had a rough draft day for sure, but his fall was stopped by the team he wanted to go to, the Cleveland Browns. Their reward a holdout that could last a long time, rumors of not signing and going back into the draft next year. Wasn't this the team he so wanted to play for. Don't they have enough questions at quarterback that he should have been their from day one to try and win the job? He lost a lot, a lot of money but who says he has the right to get it back just because he didn't expect to drop that far? You wish he would have stood up and said pay me what the slotted amount is and I will come in from day one, bust my butt and lead this team and certainly make up for those millions over time! Guess it doesn't work like that, here's pulling for Charlie Frye in the Pro Bowl </articlebody>

<title>Good news for Browns line</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Could it possibly be? Good news on the offensive line for the Browns??? According to an AP report LeCharles Bentley intends to report to training camp and play this year! Bentley was to be their big addition last year but went down with a knee injury and hopes to be in the starting lineup to start the season. Of course it is no lock he makes it back or his knee holds up, but if it did the line could make a huge turnaround, especially on the left side. First round draft pick Joe Thomas is 'penciled in' at left tackle (he needs to sign and earn that tho) and the big free agent pickup this year Eric Steinbach at left guard could make a formidable group </articlebody>

<title>Browns get Quinn too</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Browns thought long and hard about Quinn at #3 overall and traded back into the first round to get him at #22 trading with the Dallas Cowboys. Quinn isn't happy but he does have Joe Thomas blocking for him now. Quinn will come in and be the face of the organization (sorry for Joe Thomas, but he will likely be happy to be a little more quiet now). An excellent pick, a incredible value at the spot. The Browns draft is looking much better now. They paid a very heavy price of their 2nd round pick and a first round next year. The Cowboys could get even more if the Browns don't have a good year, good value for the Cowboys too </articlebody>

Adams can cover the slot receiver in nickel sets and is solid on special teams. <title>Browns focus on the draft</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Browns will spend the upcoming week focusing on their #3 overall pick in the draft by bringing in three of the top players available, LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell, Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn and Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The quarterbacks are intriguing but if Peterson is healthy is is the better value. There had been some talk of Joe Thomas as well but there will be other tackles available in round two or three for them. Teams can bring in up to 30 players for interviews before the draft and in many cases they don't end up drafting too many players that were brought in, so don't read too much into all these reports. However having the #3 pick in the draft the will go over everyone at the top of the draft to be prepared </articlebody>

The Browns hold the number three pick in the draft and should have one of the top QB's still on the board when they pick but also like Adrian Peterson. Don't expect them to land Green but it is interesting. Miami is still the most likely trade partner but not until the two teams agree on a price. <title>Broncos sign two free agents</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Denver Broncos have signed former Browns DT Alvin McKinley and former Colts WR Brandon Stokley, who if healthy will be a solid pickup. Injuries have been a big issue for Stokley though and if healthy it seems he would be competing with Rod Smith for the #3 job if you believe the team that Smith is the #3 and youngster Brandon Marshall will be the starter. For a team like the Broncos that rarely used the #3 much less #4 receivers it would seems they are fighting for a roster spot since neither would have much to offer on special team, a prerequisite of the #4 receiver </articlebody>

<title>Broncos get rid of a Brown</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Denver Broncos brought in too many lineman from the Browns in free agency previously and today cut one, Courtney Brown. The former first overall pick in the draft in 2000 Brown never made his mark other than to be injured may be done in the NFL. After missing all of last year with a knee injury and a history of injuries that is quite long it may be time to say good bye. The Browns had had horrible luck in the first round since returning to the league. QB Tim Couch in 1999 and Warren were both first overall picks who didn't make it. 2002 brought Gerard Warren who also ended up in Denver at number three overall. The following years brought RB William Green, center Jeff Faine, tight end Kellen Winslow Jr and his motorcycle and then Braylon Edwards. To give them some credit last year's pick Kamerion Wimbley looks pretty good though Denver is plotting for him in free agency in a few years </articlebody>

<title>Browns get Smith from Bengals</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cincinnati Bengals decided not to match the offer sheet for DT Shaun Smith from the Cleveland Browns. That means he is now a Brown and will make a push for the starting nose tackle job. Like all nose tackles don't bother looking at his stats, he is just there to take up space and two blockers and Smith is powerful enough for that role </articlebody>

<title>Browns sign a pair of lineman</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Cleveland Browns addressed both sides of the line with signings. On defense they added DT Robaire Smith to a 4 year $12 million deal with a $4 million signing bonus according to ESPN, and on offense they signed Seth McKinney to a one year deal. They also terminated the contract of FB Terrelle Smith. Robaire Smith's signing is an interesting one in that he was a good player for the Titans to begin his career, signed with the Texans for big money but found he didn't fit in their 3-4 defense. Last season he returned to Tennessee and played well and now he leaves for the money and another 3-4 team. If he just wants the money then fine, but sometimes players need to find where they fit best too. Smith will be moved to end in the 3-4 but is a more natural fit at tackle in a 4-3. McKinney will help provide depth on a line that sorely lacked it last year </articlebody>

<articlebody>The New Orleans Saints have signed former Bengals safety Kevin Kaesviharn to a 4 year $10 million contract with a $3.25 million signing bonus according to ESPN. Kaesviharn will help in coverage and the move provides better depth at safety where Roman Harper is coming off a knee surgery. Along with Josh Bullocks they will be much improved in 2007 </articlebody>

<title>Running backs keep moving</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Running backs in the top this year's draft are watching the movement of all the back closely. The New York Giants were in need of a back according to ESPN have traded WR Tim Carter to the Cleveland Browns for RB Reuben Droughns. The Giants wanted a back to paid with Brandon Jacobs after Tiki Barber's retirement now have that spot secured with Droughns. The Browns signed Jamal Lewis to only a one year back which leads to speculation they will still draft Adrian Peterson at number three, but the list of teams that need a back in the first round is dwindling. One team that is left is the Green Bay Packers who have pretty much sat on their hands and watched all the backs sign. Buffalo and Detroit are also still in the market. Free agents still on the market include Chris Brown who is expected to sign soon, T.J. Duckett and possibly Corey Dillion </articlebody>

<title>The running back dance</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Jamal Lewis and the Ravens are not looking at each other anymore. Each is going their own way according to the Baltimore Sun. Lewis still has a one year deal on the table but will visit the Cleveland Browns later in the week, and the Ravens are looking into trading for Willis McGahee of the Buffalo Bills, who in expectation of trading him visited with Dominic Rhodes and Chris Brown yesterday. So much movement as teams run in a circle to pick up other teams players who end up with theirs. Dominic Rhodes has got to be kicking himself, if not for his slip up just before free agency he would have been signed by now and for a little more money than he will get after the fact </articlebody>

<title>Ryan Tucker returns to the Browns</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Browns ORT Ryan Tucker is returning to the team after leaving last season due to mental health issues. If they weren't caused by the team's bad play and he is 100% the Browns could see a drastic improvement on the line. I know you've heard that before, and they are only another injury or staph infection away from trouble, or maybe this year they will find a new problem? Still if they all take the field you have to like the lineup </articlebody>

<articlebody>The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed former Browns receiver Dennis Northcutt to a 5 year contract averaging $3.4 per season with a $4.5 million signing bonus according to the Florida Times-Union. The deal is expected to be signed tomorrow pending a physical. That is quite a contract for someone who had 22 catches last year for 228 yards. He is a solid punt returner as well and adds a veteran to the receiving corp that was needed, though he is unikely to win a starting job so you would have to say the pay is a little high. It will also take them out of talks for Raiders WR Randy Moss </articlebody>

With a roster bonus due next week and a big salary he could be on his way out. His play is not at the same level of his contract anymore and is likely to be looking for a new home. They hope to work out a long term contract with him, but with him on the open market some teams are going to be coming with a lot of cash. The 49ers and his old coach Mike Nolan need someone like him desperately. Cleveland and the Jets will also be interested. Other than the price tag he would be a great fit in New England as well. Quarterback is another issue but not likely one to be resolved in a positive this year anyway so hope they focus on the defense and get something built </articlebody>
