<title>Bills take Leodis McKelvin</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Bills have selected CB Leodis McKelvin at #11... a great pick for them after losing Nate Clements last year. McKelvin is a great cover corner and yes he may not get a lot of interceptions, but receivers going against him won't catch much either. There had been lots of talk of a receiver here and that would have been horrible. They can address that later </articlebody>

<title>Drafting wide receivers</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The NFL draft is a crapshoot and the 2008 version appears to be a little more than usual. No true #1 pick, some safer picks, some with more upside.... then there is the one constant, the danger of drafting a wide receiver in round one. Rookie receivers usually do not make a big impact, junior wide receivers may be flashy choices but are even more dangerous. This year the name moving up the charts is Devin Thomas... who? He is from Michigan State and a one year wonder. Let's see a junior with only one year of production, runs fast and has good size.. shoot him up the board.... danger!

What about a couple receivers who were consider near the top - Mario Manningham and Malcolm Kelly - both juniors and both falling down the boards. Neither ran a quality 40 time, but they have excuses. Those are part of the problem. Manningham lied about failing drug tests in college, then admitted to it and then sounded like an idiot on a national radio show. He clearly doesn't get it, but it appears NFL GM's do and there is little chance he goes in round one now. Kelly didn't run well and blamed his school for changing the surface he was to run on.... you see he had special shoes and everything. Ok this shoe thing is true of everyone now a days (ugh) but to come out and bash the school was an immature and dumb move on his part.

Why do people get so caught up on a 40 time of someone on a track with special shoes when they have been preparing to run this drill for months. Are they ever asked to run the 40 without pads and in tracks shoes during a game? Jerry Rice ran a 4.55 40 coming out of college but didn't look that slow when the speedy Redskins corner Darrell Green was chasing him... who really cares. I understand it has some value but it is far too overrated. How many times do receivers run in the 4.3s and then you hear people say that team needs receivers you can stretch the field and their current group isn't getting it done. The 40 speed doesn't make them a deep threat. Even better there have been top track guys playing receiver in the NFL and referred to as more of a possession guy... not saying the assessment was wrong but pointing out they were track stars just a couple years ago... NFL speed is different than track speed. Being fast at one doesn't make you fast at the other, get it? There are plenty of teams needing a receiver and some will reach for one, more will regret than will rejoice and fans will be excited in April and forget their names in October... such is life in the NFL in April </articlebody>

<title>Bills dump Price</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>No surprise but the Buffalo Bills have dumped WR Peerless Price. Oh how things can change and you can never go back. Price spent his first four years in the league with the Bills and he and Eric Moulds created a great combo. After the 2002 season in which he caught 94 balls for 1,252 yards he went for the big money in free agency with the Atlanta Falcons and the chance to be a #1 receiver and step out of the shadow of Moulds. That backfired to say the least! He caught 64 passes the first year with the Falcons and 45 the second before getting released as a huge disappointment. He then signed on with Dallas who let a similar player go, anyone remember Alvin Harper, and he caught a whopping 6 passes for them before heading home to Buffalo in 2006 where he did a bit better with 49 receptions but for a measly 402 yards and last year played only 4 games and caught 7 balls.... the Price isn't right anymore </articlebody>

<title>Wasting tax payers dollars</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Ah yes tax time is near and the pain of seeing how much money we fork over to cause deep pain in our stomachs. Then of course there is all the good that comes from it, such as members of congress spending the day listening to the he said she said of Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee (don't forget Andy Pettitte too) and now a new wonderful word "Nannygate", ugh what has this world come to? Add to that Arlen Specter grilling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over the spygate issue, threatening congressional hearings and the league's antitrust exemption. Do these blowhard's not have anything better to do with their days??? Do we not have any serious issues to be tackled in this great country that we have time to bicker and seek headlines with this crap? Hey guys call me when you fix the economy, health care, homelessness in this rich country and a list longer than.... then we can get around to which retired baseball players did what. Other than Barry Bonds the rest of this is ridiculous and makes me not want to pay attention to the sports we all love so much. This country has become addicted to soap opera's and reality crap where everyone wants their 15 minutes. It's not like this is all brand new, the Steelers of the 70s admittedly used steroids and they certainly were not alone but no one is calling to take back their Super Bowl wins. Lester Hayes is probably my favorite corner of all time, but he reported used something to help him get a better grip. Can we all just move on and focus on trying to fix things rather than going over the top about the past. Either way Roger was dominant, the Patriots were superior and as much as it pains us Bonds was a Hall of Famer before they all crossed the line </articlebody>

<title>Bills promote Turk Schonert</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Buffalo Bills have promoted QB coach Turk Schonert to be their 5th offensive coordinator since 2000. More change.. but is that a good thing? The offense needs to improve but that can be hard with the constant change, especially on young QB's like Losman and Edwards. <title>Bills year heading south</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Buffalo Bills season is heading south, that is the nice way of saying it. Another way would be swirling down the porcelain... after a 38-7 loss to the Patriots. J.P. Losman left the game with a knee injury and Trent Edwards was no match for the Patriots defense. On offense Tom Brady and Randy Moss continue to ake it look easy. Brady threw for 311 yards completing almost 80% of his passes and Moss had 115 yards and a pair of TDs </articlebody>

<title>Great article</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Here is a great article by Fox Sports' <A href="http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7146400?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=5" target="_blank"> John Czarnecki</A> about how the NFL rookie are being paid way too much. "It doesn't make sense that LaRon Landry is the highest paid safety in the game," Cowboys executive Stephen Jones told me. "And that Joe Thomas (Cleveland's top pick) has a better deal than Tom Brady. For example, Chiefs running back Larry Johnson signed yesterday for less guaranteed money than what Johnson and Thomas collected, and only a moron would say those rookies deserve more than one of the NFL's best running backs... we're right there with you John, good work</A> </articlebody>

<articlebody>The Tennessee Titans added veteran depth at receiver signing former Bills and Texans WR Eric Moulds to a one year deal. The Titans had sniffed around earlier in the off season and didn't bite, but now on the eve of camp decided they needed a veteran presence. <title>Is Michael Turner going</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Chargers are still listening to offers for RB Michael Turner and now according to the San Diego Union Tribune a mystery team has offered a first round pick in 2008 for Turner. The team isn't the Titans, Bills or Cowboys who were all interested. The Packers though always mentioned have shown no real visible interest, despite the obvious need. The report states this team would take him have him play this year for the $2.35 million tender he signed and franchise him next year if they haven't worked out a long term deal. His agent is asking for $17 million guaranteed in a 5 year deal. Oh his agent's name you ask? Bus Cook, yes the same agent for Brett Favre. Question What if the Packers got Turner for a first round pick next year, got Randy Moss for a 4th rounder this year or even a 3rd, still had their first and second round picks this year? Wow would a quiet off season take a major step forward </articlebody>

<title>Running backs keep moving</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Running backs in the top this year's draft are watching the movement of all the back closely. The New York Giants were in need of a back according to ESPN have traded WR Tim Carter to the Cleveland Browns for RB Reuben Droughns. The Giants wanted a back to paid with Brandon Jacobs after Tiki Barber's retirement now have that spot secured with Droughns. The Browns signed Jamal Lewis to only a one year back which leads to speculation they will still draft Adrian Peterson at number three, but the list of teams that need a back in the first round is dwindling. One team that is left is the Green Bay Packers who have pretty much sat on their hands and watched all the backs sign. Buffalo and Detroit are also still in the market. Free agents still on the market include Chris Brown who is expected to sign soon, T.J. Duckett and possibly Corey Dillion </articlebody>

<title>Bills trade Willis McGahee to Baltimore</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Buffalo Bills have traded RB Willis McGahee to the Baltimore Ravens pending a physical later in the week for three draft picks. ESPN is reporting it is the Ravens 3rd and 7th round picks this year and their 3rd round pick in 2008. The Bills come out better than expected getting a pair of third round picks rather than the expectation of one and a late round pick. Look for the Bills to strike quickly signing a replacement. There has been some interest in Corey Dillion but watch for Titans RB Chris Brown who was just in for a visit with the Bills and was next headed to Detroit, who continues to be interested in running backs, to sign with the Bills. The Lions are maybe looking to stockpile backs like Jon Gruden does quarterbacks in Tampa </articlebody>

<title>The running back dance</title>
<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>Jamal Lewis and the Ravens are not looking at each other anymore. Each is going their own way according to the Baltimore Sun. Lewis still has a one year deal on the table but will visit the Cleveland Browns later in the week, and the Ravens are looking into trading for Willis McGahee of the Buffalo Bills, who in expectation of trading him visited with Dominic Rhodes and Chris Brown yesterday. So much movement as teams run in a circle to pick up other teams players who end up with theirs. Dominic Rhodes has got to be kicking himself, if not for his slip up just before free agency he would have been signed by now and for a little more money than he will get after the fact </articlebody>

It is a $720,000 contract with a $40,000 signing bonus. Not quite the big splash you expect but it is a start to what will be a busy weekend for sure. Whittle can play anywhere on the line making him an excellent backup swing player and is more than capable of starting when needed. He has started 42 of the 125 games he has played in </articlebody>

<articlebody>Every year before the start of free agency there are rumors to deal being done already. This year two rumors have been making the rounds. One has the 49ers already having a deal with Ravens LB Adalius Thomas and the other the Redskins with Bills LB London Fletcher Baker. Both seem logical, after who doubt the Redskins won't move quickly and Fletcher would fill a big need as would Thomas in San Francisco who has the cap room and history with 49ers head coach Mike Noaln </articlebody>

<author>PFInsider.net</author>
<articlebody>The Bills have resigned DE Chris Kelsay just before he becomes a free agent. Kelsay was a top priority of theirs and would have been popular in free agency. Defensive ends are very thin in free agency this year as the franchise tag claimed many. This move also put a big smile on Patrick Kerney's face as his value just went up in free agency as one less name is available. It will put a smile on many others faces too as according to ESPN the 4 year deal is worth $23 million and $14.5 million is guaranteed! Players value is quickly being reset in this new age of a higher salary cap </articlebody>

The Browns are an obvious team with their troubles on the line and the fact they have plenty of cap room. Peter King had reported during the season of the 49ers interest, though we question that.
